Colac WRP Upgrade-Balance Tank

Project Title:

Colac WRP Upgrade-Balance Tank

Client Name:

Service Stream

Asset Owner:

Barwon Water

Location:

Colac, Victoria

Project Description:

Kelly Civil Construction was engaged by Service Stream to deliver the form-reinforce-pour (FRP) package for the construction of a balance tank as part of a Barwon Water infrastructure upgrade. The project involved the delivery of a large circular reinforced concrete tank measuring approximately 30 metres in diameter, designed to support the ongoing reliability and performance of the water network.

Kelly Civil Construction’s scope was exclusively focused on the structural concrete works, with no civil works included within the contract. Working closely with Service Stream and the broader project team, our role was to deliver the reinforced concrete elements to the required tolerances and quality standards associated with critical water infrastructure assets.

Construction commenced with the placement of the in-situ reinforced concrete base slab, establishing the foundation for the tank structure and providing accurate set-out for subsequent wall construction. Following completion of the slab, our team completed the formwork, reinforcement fixing, and concrete placement for the tank walls.

The circular tank geometry required precise set-out and construction techniques to ensure dimensional accuracy and achieve the specified structural and watertight performance criteria. Formwork systems were installed to construct both the internal and external wall faces, enabling the delivery of a high-quality finish and consistent wall alignment throughout the structure.

All works were completed in accordance with project specifications, quality assurance procedures, and stringent safety requirements. The successful delivery of the project further demonstrated Kelly Civil Construction’s capability in the construction of complex reinforced concrete water-retaining structures and critical utility infrastructure.
